The Prison Yard and a Lesson Learned!!!

If you remember last year about this time Richard finally got to work on rebuilding a part of our fence that had fallen down! Well there was still one part that needed to be replaced that goes from the front yard to the backyard! Thankfully for me Richard happened to read our friends the Wennergren's blog that talked about how nice it was that they had a fenced in backyard, that she could let the kids out there to run around and not have to worry about them and plain just how great it was! Well after reading that Richard felt sorry for me and he came right home from work last Friday and got to work!

Here is Richard looking all excited and ready to go before he really got to work!
And of course after a few scoop with the shovel this is what he found! His worst nightmare the big block of cement!

But it didn't take long to get out and the boys loved watching Richard and the magical cement!

In case you were wondering yes Jack is wearing speedo! He will not wear a swimsuit! So he wear his plastic swim diaper! Good thing that it is cute one!

Jack and Trey liked "helping" dad!
We wanted to have a gate on this side so that it would be easier to get the lawn mower out of the backyard! That meant that he was going to have to dig another whole for a post for the gate! We thought that we might get lucky where we were going to put it and there was not going to be another block of cement! But like all of our fence projects we are not lucky! There was a huge block and it was stubborn!

Richard ended up putting the bottom of his shoe right through the shovel!

Instead of changing both of his shoes he just changed one as not to loose any daylight changing the other one!
He finally got it out the next day! He was tired and I'm sure he was pretty sore! We set the final post in Monday night! It was really hard to get lined up all even it took a little more digging, but it was finally done so that we could build the actual fence the next morning before it got to hot!
Shortly after we came inside I was putting the boys to bed when Richard ran up the stairs telling me he had broke his phone! I just want you to know that this isn't just some regular crummy cell phone! It's a palm pre which is a touch screen and it's only a few months old! Richard while he was digging the hole down that day had laid on the ground with his phone in his pocket right on top of a rock which shattered his screen!
I don't know if you can really see it that well but it was totally done! He couldn't do anything on it well because it was a touch screen! He could answer it if someone called him but that was it! And if you know Richard you know that his phone is like another member of our family!

The good thing is that we finished the fence! I now have pretty much a kid outdoor prison! I love it the boys hate it! Trey told me that he felt like he was in jail! They never really went out to the front yard if we were in the back anyway but since they can't they hate it! I can now send them out in the morning while I clean and it's so great! I also love that we now have complete privacy from some peoples prying eyes! The bad news is that Richard no longer has a cool phone (just me) he was not eligible for an upgrade and we were not to excited about having to pay $400+ for a new phone! One of his managers just happened to still have a Blackberry curve that was sprint phone that she was willing to give him for free until he can get an upgrade in December! So the moral of this story is don't lay on rocks with your phone and if you have a really nice phone get insurance on it, because when you break it, it will be worth it!
