The roof, the roof, the roof is....new....

That's right peeps we got a new roof! I realize this is something a little ridiculous to get excited about but when you are a homeowner weird things get you excitable!!!! We've been planning and saving for this day for sometime, so we are glad to finally cross this project off our list. A few years ago we had a leak in our roof during the winter which caused a good amount of damage to the house. We got it patched fixed everything up and prayed that it would hold up for a few more years. We aren't ashamed one bit to say we have put a tarp on our roof in that particular spot for a couple of winters just to be on the safe side. See we are firm believers in not doing things unless we have the money to do so...we enjoy our debt free lifestyle a little to much.we knew this year would be the year that we could make it happen!

So we got estimates picked out shingles which is harder than you would think. We finally decided what would look best and set the date for into happen!

So this was us Monday morning! Up bright and early watching a truck load of shingles get lifted up to the roof! It was pretty cool! The other great thing was that our neighbors are also getting their roof done by the same guy so we got to watch their shingles go up to their roof to...double the fun! Jack had an obsession with this parachute that morning and he was bound and determined it was going to fly off the roof! I told him to ask the roofer if he would take it up with and throw it down to him! 

He was more than happy to and it made jacks whole day! He probably would have played with him all day if he didn't have work to do! It was noisy day at this house. That afternoon after taking jack to the bus Harper walked into the kitchen to get a drink. She had just barely stepped out of the kitchen when the light figure above the sink came crashing down and shattered glass went everywhere! Talk about scary! That girl has a serious guardian angle watching out for her! We got all that cleaned up and finished off that day with no more craziness thank goodness! 

Today was another loud day of hammering, hammering and more hammering! They also took off the old unused swam cooler! Glad that eye sore is gone! He worked hard all day and finished our roof!!!

Here it is say goodbye to that ugly red roof and hello to our new beautiful black one! It seriously looks like a brand new house! We are so excited to be able to finally start crossing big projects like thisoff our list now that our house is paid off! The best thing about it is that since they sealed off the swam cooler and put new vents in it no longer sounds like you're in the middle of a tornado when your up stairs and the wind is blowing! Couldn't be more happy with the results!!
