This Old House!!!

So sometimes when you buy an older house you end up with older things! That is our case, we bought a slightly older home about 20 years and it came with some old things that needed updating! Like when we walked into it after it was officially our house, I realized it was pink.....everywhere! I didn't notice that all the walls were pink to go along with the pink carpet in one room and all the pink counter tops! All the walls were pink except our sitting room, they were a nice sea foam green! It was beautiful...that's why I changed it...as fast as I could! Even if I was a few weeks pregnant with the Trey Baby! This house is coming together in a slightly more updated version! No more pink anything, now it is nice and neutral! One thing that has been bugging me for along time is this.....

This beauty of a fireplace! I have loved this but hated and I mean hated the gold! I just said grandma to me! it was scratched and just didn't look all that great! So my brain started rolling how was I going to fix this and do it cheap! I was going to spray paint it that's how! So this morning I prepped it all up, went to walmart, got some high heat spray paint and came home!

Here it is in the middle of the project! I had to open all the windows and doors down in the family room and get a fan just so that we didn't suffocate or anything! Jack's nose is full of black boogers now!
But it's worth it because holy AMAZING! I love it I wish that I would have done it forever ago! I wasn't in my crafty/home decorating prime then! I decided to paint the mantle black also and I'm in love! I'm so glad that I did it!

Everything just seems to pop off of it more and it draws the eye to something nice and pretty instead of something ugly! But now I have to paint our entertainment center black because it just doesn't look right! That is a project for another day though! I'm sure that Richard loves this, one project leading to another and another and another! But if it makes me happy and the house look good then it's OK....right? Thanks so much Richie for putting up with all these projects that I do! I love you!

It looks really good, crazy how a little paint can change something so much.
